ABOUT THIS PROJECT

“Visitors of the St. Pancras station in London will be greeted by a monumental aluminum installation created by the designer Ron Arad. It is the second public artwork in a four-year partnership between Mr. Arad and St. Pancras International.

The project was commissioned by CIG Architecture and is part of the Terrace Wires art initiative. This initiative offers 48 million travelers a year a chance to experience the latest in contemporary art. A different object is placed every six months.

Hypnotic

THE DESIGN

Suspended on wires from the St. Pancras International’s Grade 1 listed Barlow Shed roof, the work comprises one 18 meter twisted blade made of aluminum, rotating slowly to create an optical illusion. Ron Arad (designer); “The rotation and the horizontal movement take turns in the viewers’ perception as the readings of the objects alternate and the hypnotic effect is greater than the means, so will hopefully be the delight of the public at St. Pancras”.
