ABOUT THIS PROJECT

A beautiful project we finished in collaboration with CIG-Architecture, is the Glazed Link in Manchester, designed by Simpson & Haugh Architects. The design includes a 180m2 large stainless steel surface and a glazed glass structure, linking Manchester Town Hall and the central library and acting as an entrance to both buildings. The object won the well-known RIBA Award in 2016.

the DESIGN

"The unexpected stainless steel monocoque roof volume provides a dynamic, abstract element that is rooted in its situation and invites closer inspection by reflecting the adjacent buildings, the groundscape and the people moving within and around the link. The underside of the structure is formed as an undulating series of mirror polished curved surfaces which relate directly to, and provide a full view of, each of the adjacent arched openings into the listed buildings.
